How To Slay Ladies Day: A Feminine Fashion Lookbook
Move aside gents! Because Ladies Day is here! This means grabbing your girls and getting dolled up in the most glamorous and on-trend getups you can imagine, and wining and dining in utmost style!
Kennedy Oaks Day, or more commonly known as Ladies Day, falls on November the 8th. When we hear Ladies Day, we're talking about getting decked out in lacy numbers, pastel perfect pieces, and your favourite female celebrities flocking the trackside in floral dresses.
While the Ladies Day dress code may appear similar to other important race days, there are key trends that must be followed to avoid fashion faux pas. You can check out our Spring Racing Style Guide for more details!
Leave the jeans, crop tops, dark-coloured dresses and neon brights behind. Oaks Day is the event that encourages fashion-forward ladies to show off their feminine side. Attentendees embrace all things whimsical and femme from ruffles, extravagant architectural headpieces, to the muted prints combined with pastel-tone colours. This race day is also the time where women get to be more experimental with their daily beauty routine- think of warm-tones and dewy finishes combined with the naturally bronzed look to match your fascinator.
The official flower of Kennedy Oaks Day is the rose, so you're also bound to see a variety of pink-on-pink throughout the day! Other popular colours include soft reds, pale oranges, soft blues and the like.
Here's some awesome Ladies Day outfits specially curated you and your bestie!
Pastel Perfection
Look 1 (left)
If you're not one for ditsy florals and vintage prints, why not rework your pastel shades and rosy pinks into a tie-dye print? To keep to the feminine theme of Ladies Day, we suggest opting for a muted colour-palette. Avoid anything too vibrant.
Victoria wears a coral pink, soft grey and white tie-dye print dress cut to a flattering fit-and-flare silhouette. The dress also features floaty angel sleeves along with a ruffled asymmetrical skirt to soften the print. We've styled it with a large pink floral fascinator with multiple layers to balance the modern tie-dye dress.

Florals are a safe, traditional and effortless trackside staple. However, just because you're wearing floral print on Ladies Day doesn't mean you can skip out on style! Put aside the vintage brocade motifs and choose something brighter and more tropical.
We've styled Dom in a vibrant white dress with a tropical floral pattern printed throughout. The dress keeps to the sleek and femme theme by offering a high-neckline and a ruffled hemline with crochet lace trimming. The dress is modernised with its large cutout and lace-up detailing to the back. For accessorises, we've amped up the layering factor and picked a metallic gold fascinator to match.

Monochromatic Mood
If pastels and florals aren't your thing, you could always go for the monochrome palette. All you have to do is experiment with textures and fabrics to avoid you looking like you accidentally mixed up your Derby Day and Ladies Day dates!
Look 1 + 2 (left)
We've styled Victoria (left) in a fitted bodycon mini with a tie-detail for a modern touch. To elevate her feminine side, we've accessorised with a pearl headband complemented by matching statement earrings to frame the face. White block heels finish off her look.
Or when in doubt, wear a bold power suit like our muse Dom (right). To avoid the classic vibe of Derby Day, we've glammed up her Ladies Day look by accessorising with a waist-cinching belt and a more architectural fascinator. We also opted for a bolder check print for a modern-chic-feel.
Look 3 + 4 (right)
Ruffles are a definite trackside staple for Ladies Day, especially if they're extra floaty and tiered, and complemented with frill edging! Thus we've dressed Victoria in a polka dot printed ruffle dress and paired it with shaved block heels, and a large floral fascinator.
Layers of crochet lace combined with feminine silhouettes is another popular and reliable trend for Ladies Day. Dominique (right) lets her dress do the talking. She wears luxe broderie anglaise dress exclusive to Hello Molly. We've modernised her overall look by accessorising with a matching bow silk fascinator but kept the shoes simple and chic!

Brave N' Bold
If you want a femme and undeniably FAB look that pops, why not show off your femme side in a fitted mini dress with contemporary detailing? For this look, the bright contrasting hues of your dress and fascinator should be the focal point of your race-ready edit. Keep jewellery and crystal encrusted embellishments to a minimum. Too much layering can make your vibe look gaudy and OTT. Ladies Day is all about looking effortlessly feminine, sleek and sophisticated.
For this look, we've styled Dom in a backless high-neck gown with split sleeves, statement drop earrings and a modern bow fascinator in a bright fuchsia pink. Simple yet so eye-catching!
